The following proposal has been submitted for consideration at the next meeting between Inspired Property Management & the Parklands Board of Directors (early June 2022). Feedback from this proposal will be published on this website as an update post and in the ‘Proposals’ ‘Feedback’ section.

Name: Natalie Walton & Traci-Ann Shepherd (on behalf of Parklands Estate Residents’ Association)
Title of your proposal: Installation of bird boxes across the estate
Does your proposal require a time-sensitive decision?: Yes
If time-sensitive, please indicate any deadlines you may be working towards (e.g. funding, planting, nesting seasons, national & local initiatives): In consultation with the RSPB and Great Grounds & Gardens, there is a need to install in summer for winter nesting.
For consideration we advise your proposal supports some or all of the following (please check all that apply):
- Make Parklands Estate a great place to live by promoting and encouraging community spirit
- Have support from residents of Parklands Estate (inc. shareholders)
- Forge strong links with the local community for the benefit of all residents living on the estate
- Ensure the estate is environmentally sustainable, respectful and promotes the natural environment
- Be budget saving or have funding available to support your idea
Please describe your proposal, thinking about the above: This idea has come from residents at the residents meeting in October 2021 and therefore encourages community spirit and shows that residents ideas can come to fruition. This is looking at the environmental aspect of the estate, supporting wildlife, developing habitats and wellbeing – given the joy of nature.
Do you have evidence of community consultation (e.g. emails, written feedback, names of residents supporting, meeting minutes)? Yes (residents’ meeting Oct 2021)
Do you know the cost of your proposal and how we might raise funds as a collective to cover the costs?: Yes
If yes, please give details. If no, please provide details on how the Residents’ Association Committee can support you to gather this information: Bird boxes are approx £15 from Grow Wakefield, a community company that works with groups to make the boxes to give back to projects in Wakefield. A quote for installation has been requested from GG&G and will be added to the cost of the box and residents have said they would be interested in sponsoring a box. – therefor no cost to the service charge!
